Features
Everything a screen recorder needs, and nothing that phones home
Whole screen, one window, or a tab
Pick the source in the browser’s own picker. Switch to a different window mid-session in browsers that allow it.
Microphone when you want it
Narrate a walkthrough. The permission prompt only appears after you turn the microphone on and press start.
Webcam baked into the video
The camera is composited onto the frame as you record, so the file you download already has the overlay in it.
Pause without splitting the file
Stop to check something, resume, and still end up with one continuous recording and an accurate timer.
Codecs chosen at runtime
The recorder asks MediaRecorder what it supports and uses the best available option instead of guessing at a codec.
Nothing left behind
Deleting a recording stops every track and revokes its object URL. Closing the tab does the same thing.
How it works
Four steps, all of them yours
- 01
Turn on what you need
Microphone and camera, if you want them. Nothing else to decide.
- 02
Pick what to share
Your browser asks, not us, and shows what is being shared the whole time.
- 03
Record and preview
Pause, resume and stop. The video appears in the page straight away.
- 04
Download or delete
Save the file to your device, or delete it and it is gone from memory.
Privacy
Where your recording actually goes
The whole pipeline runs inside the tab. We are not asking you to take that on faith: open your browser’s network panel while you record and you will see no request carrying video.
- 01
Screen, window or tab
You pick the source in the browser
- 02
getDisplayMedia()
Browser hands over a MediaStream
- 03
MediaRecorder
Encodes to WebM in the page
- 04
Blob in memory
Chunks held in the tab, nowhere else
- 05
Your downloads folder
Saved only when you click download
Receive no video, audio or frames
They serve the page itself. There is no upload endpoint to send a recording to.
Guides
Common questions, answered properly
- Recording with sound
Narration and system sound are separate problems with separate answers. Which browsers manage each.
- Recording came out silent
Four causes, in the order worth checking. Most of the time it is one unticked box in the picker.
- Recording a Google Meet
Capture a call without a paid Workspace plan, and what to say to the other people first.
- Recording on a Mac
One system setting decides whether capture works at all on a Mac. Where it lives and why a restart is needed.
- WebM or MP4?
Which format your browser gives you, why you cannot choose, and which one you actually want.
- The file is huge
Why screen recordings get so big, and the changes that genuinely reduce the size.
Questions
The ones people ask first
Do I need to install anything?
Are my recordings uploaded?
Do I need an account?
Can I record my microphone and webcam?
Ready when you are
No account to create, no download to wait for. The next thing that happens is your browser asking which screen to share.
